With the progress of medical sciences, many new methods and protocols have been developed for clinical diagnosis and treatment. And evaluation of disease prognosis has been emphasized increasingly. Thus, choosing appropriate statistical parameters and analytic methods become more and more important for objective evaluation. This article reviews the parameters used in evaluation of patients' prognosis, influencing factors on prognosis, design of research on prognosis and statistical analysis. The causes for bias and problems needing attention in evaluation of prognosis are also discussed.
