    w konopadaW Konopada,

Report about clinical experiences in a series of 50 women (primipara and multipara aged 21 to 41 years) with hemodilution on the occasion of caesarean section. 40 patients similar in age and diagnoses were selected as a control group. In the latter one caesarean section was done traditionally without hemodilution. In the test group blood was removed before operation in the course of anesthesia. Then the removed blood was substituted by dextrane 40 (1,5 g per kg body weight, minimally 500 ml) in such a way, that hematocrit reaches 32 to 30 per cent. After hemodilution, partly when only 66 per cent of dextrane was infused, caesarean section was done. The initially removed portion of blood was reinfused when hemostasis was completed and the uterine wall contracted and sutured. Blood values, hematocrit, protein content, acid-base-status were tested repeatedly from the beginning till the end of the operation. Apgar values demonstrated high vitality of the newborns. Using hemodilution in caesarean section has many advantages, as well for the pregnant women as well for the obstetrician.
