Requirements in medical care and availability of such care for the population of an industrial regions with the towns of Stary? Oskol and Gubkin is analyzed. The authors emphasize the unique type of the region. Approaches to improvement of the level of public health in this region at the expense of coordination of the activities of medical and public health institutions, equipment of therapeutic and prophylactic institutions with modern therapeutic and diagnostic devices, and upgrading the knowledge and skills of physicians and paramedical personnel, which may be implemented by professors and teachers of the N. N.Burdenko Voronezh Medical Academy, are outlined. The possibility of creation of specialized medical centers at large multiprofile hospitals is discussed.
