The authors report the individual music therapy treatment of an 8 year old girl with a diagnosis of Pervasive Developmental Disorder NOS. The sessions brought some changes in the girl state, as the possibility for play sharing, objects election and use, acceptation and search for body contact, and use of her voice for emotional expression. Problems in the institution where the treatment took place had a negative influence on treatment and led it to an end. Some considerations are made about staff burn out, bureaucracy and State responsibilities with impaired children.
