48 women, aged 17-41, were treated with weekly dosages of 1 mg ethinylestradiolsulfonate (EES) and a 10 mg dosage of norethisterone acetate (NEA) or a .5 mg.-3.0 mg. dosage of d-norgestrel(d-N) every 4 weeks. 69 abrasions of the endometrium were taken from these patients between the 1st-37th treatment cycles. The EES caused a hyperpasia of the endometrium, increasing with the length of use. The patients given the NEA and d-N developed retronuclear basal secretory vacuoles and an overabundance of glycogen in the abrasion material, which was not dependent on the dosage of the gestagen which was given.
