Pupillary response was measured with binocular pupillogram to analyze Bell's palsy through examination of autonomic nerve function. This analysis was performed in 166 patients of Bell's palsy who consulted within one month after onset. Based on the results of pupillary response measurement, autonomic nerve function was normal in 54 patients, and abnormal in 46. The delayed recovery was found in the abnormal group more often than in the normal group. In the abnormal group, patients with fast recovery were older than fifty, while those with delayed recovery were younger than forty-nine.
