Embryo RNA extraction using column kits
 

Hello,
We routinely use column kits (GE Illustra RNAminispin) for RNA extraction for adult tissues with good results but are now using embryos. Our RT-PCR results are generally poor compared to adult and 260/280 ratios very high (>2.2). However, reference genes look good. Is this a problem with the yolk?
From what I have read so far, most (almost all) people use Trizol in embryo work. Can someone please comment on this. Is it worth getting the Trizol?
