Default question: stop codon TAA vs TGA

Hi

What are the differences between TAA stop and TGA stop? Are there any papers out there supporting this? (I cant find any..)

I'm working with Pichia pastoris. Which stop would you prefer?

Cheers

Hi
as we know that there are three univeral stop codons. TAA. TAG and TGA. but these are used with different frequency in different organisms. in yeast what i have observed so far TAA is the most common used stop codon and mostly yeast expression vector also use TAA as stop codon.

regards
aftab

hi aftab,

thanks for replying, so what's the advantage of using TAA rather then TGA? a stronger stop signal? or it was just randomly done
