Default ISSY25 Systems Biology of Yeasts Symposium in Finland

Dear Colleague,

We are happy to invite You to the international ISSY25 meeting on
"Systems Biology of Yeasts - from models to applications", to be held
in Finland in the Helsinki region next summer, 18-21 of June 2006.

The REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN at the symposium website
[Only registered users see links. ]. Please, ensure your attendance to the meeting
by early registration! The number of participants to the symposium
will be limited. Please, distribute this mail also to your
colleagues.

The dead-line for abstract submission is 10th of April. Speakers for
the afternoon sessions and contributors to the evening workshops will
be selected from the abstracts. You are welcome to submit more than
one abstract. If you have any questions, please, contact
[Only registered users see links. ]

The meeting will cover the following topics: Comparative genomics,
Pathway reconstruction, Global analysis of cell function,
Experimental and computational methods, Modeling, and Cell factory
applications. Abstracts and contributions are welcomed also on
general wet lab and computational method development aspects, in
additional to those providing insight into yeast cell biology and
using yeasts as cell factories.

This meeting should interest broadly yeast researchers and those
interested in systems biology also outside the yeast field. Systems
biology is a strongly evolving field and expected to have a great
impact on biological research. The yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae is
currently the best suited eukaryotic organism for comprehensive
systems biology studies and has extensively been used to develop
methodology and new insights into eukaryotic cell function. The
rapidly increasing number of other yeast and fungal genomes makes
also comparative aspects interesting.

The meeting belongs to the series of International Specialised
Symposia on Yeasts under the umbrella of the International Union of
Microbiological Societes (IUMS). It is supported by e.g. the
International Yeast Systems Biology Network, by European Federation
of Biotechnology (EFB) and the Federation of European Microbiological
Societes (FEMS).

Travel grants for students will be provided by FEMS and there will
also be grants available for students from Nordic countries.

Please, address questions concerning the scientific program to Merja
Penttilä ([Only registered users see links. ]) and on any organisational matters to
Anita Tienhaara ([Only registered users see links. ]).

Looking very forward to seing You in Finland next June!

Sincerely,
Merja Penttilä
Chair of the organising committee
