Staining the gel and imaging

Hi everyone,
I have a very basic question. After transferring the proteins to the membrane we usually stain the gel and take a picture of it. What information do we get from the gel picture?

Gel transfer efficiency and protein separation.
The less protein left in the gel the better your transfer efficiency.
If you still have bands, sharp bands are better than diffuse bands and proportional presence of large and small size bands are good. Both indicate your protein is good quality (as in not digested).
