Is it true that stem-cell research are illegal?

My friend is paralyzed from the waist down because of a car accident, he said that they told him there is a cure (i think he said stem cell research) but its illegal in the US. I am just wondering why is it exactly illegal, I've read that some people consider it murder, but i don't understand, do they have to kill people? or use people for experiments?

No, it is not illegal. In fact, I believe the research in question uses a person's own "adult" stem cells to regenerate spinal column tissue. However, I also believe there were some scandals with the researchers in question and their results were called into question.

Rightmirem, in some cases that is true. They could also make another stem cell specialize into the organ they need to replace. This would cause a difference in genes that the body might reject it, so using a family member is highly suggested. (Please note that I'm not 100% sure about this.)
