Default Cancer Stem Cells versus Stem Cells

Hi there,
all the latest talk in stem cell biology is focused on the Cancer Stem Cell vs Stem Cell hypothesis.

I would like some clarification between the two species, and also if anyone has protocols that would be able to separate the two that would be amazing.

I find that it would be very difficult to separate the two populations as both would be pretty embryonic like, and pluripotent.

I guess FACS sorting of cell surface markers would be the only method?

thanks
Kiki
