Stem Cells and Myocardial Regeneration

There has been a lot of research and talk about the possibility of myocardial stem cells to reproliferate in the heart after myocardiac ischemia (heart attack).

The problems are many, including getting the stem cells into the area which is damaged, getting the stem cells to grow and differentiate, connect to each other electrically and mechanically (to reconstitute heart function), and also to survive in an area that has been recently rendered a poor cellular growth area (low oxygen, necrotic area).

Anybody conducting research in this area or interested in this can input their opinion into this area of science?
