...to solve problems in life. Why limit stem cell research? George Bush thinks life is sacred and that continuing with research on stem cells may kill embryonic stem cells. If it saves lives in the end then what is the problem?

The problem is he thinks G_d talks to him. In his delusional world, Jesus said ''No".

While I agree with the point, your logic is somewhat confused.

Simply because something saves lives doesn't mean it's morally right. What if you had to kill ten healthy 3 year olds to save 100 people from cancer. Is that OK? Clearly not. ( atleast I hope you can see that it's not OK ).

The problem with these stem cells is that by refusing to fund the research you don't save them. They still get discarded as medical waste. So, we might as well make them come to some good for society.

If embryonic stem cells showed promise it would be privately funded, the call for public finance is just another boondoggle.

The issue is over the use of fetal stem cells for research if they allow it. They will not be able to control accessibility of aborted fetuses to less than moral researchers.

He never said he was against it. He just did not want the government to fund it and indirectly condone abortion. Do you not think that there is money in a cure for all these diseases? In a capitalist society, private business will fund research that shows promise for a cure. There has been little progress shown with fetal stem cells. More progress has been made with adult stem cells. It another pork project that the provate industry should fund if there is promise for a cure.

If you only knew. The embryonic stem cell lines are developed from embryo's that are going to be destroyed anyway. If life is so sacred, why isn't Bush working to have these embryo's implanted in some surrogate mothers?

Because this is a made-up issue to keep the pro-life crowd up in arms. Personally, if these embryos are so sacred, where are these pro-life families volunteering to have the embryo's implanted? Nowhere to be seen.

Micheal J. Fox gave some excellent interviews about this issue, and basically called out the Bush crowd for their hypocrisy. Their response? They had Rush Limbaugh accuse Mr. Fox of "faking" his illness, how mature.
