Why are religious people against stem cell research? Stem cell research could save lives of their loved ones. I was speaking, or debating one of my wife?s friends who is very religious. She stated that science has no place with gods will. So I asked her?. If one of your kids was in a car accident, would you allow surgeons to save her kids life? She said yes. I asked how could she let science, a surgeon and scientific equipment defy the hand of god, if it is gods will that the child die? Next I asked her what method she used at her child?s birth? She replied that she used natural childbirth. I said, so you were in a meadow under the sun? Nope, she used a hospital attached to scientific monitors, used scientific drugs to diminish the pains. So, once again, why are people opposed to stem cell research? If they themselves use science against gods will?

Catholics are taught Pro-Life, which means searching for the best quality of life for all. 1) Adult Stem Cell & Umbilica Stem Cell research is good. This type of research does not take life but rather provides life. Catholic Churches also "tithe" to such programs. The research results are very successful. 2) Fetus Stem Cell research is bad because life is the cost and the existing results have less quality results than those of Adult & Umbilical cord studies. Did you know that John Paul II suffered from Parkinsens (a disease stem cell research is studied for)???

I am not against stem cell research. I've read instances where stem cell implants have saved lives and I'm sure that there are many more ways they could work. I do believe that to create embryos to use in research is wrong. I think that that is the reason most people are morally against what has been proposed. Did you know (I read this in an article and assume it is true) that if everyone would donate the placenta, when giving birth, there would be enough stem cell to fill the need for research, without having to create new lives that would ultimately be distroyed. Which do you think is more moral. If it is your time to die, you're gonna go. So the will of God does have some bearing in the matterm, even if you get a stem cell implant. There fanatics on both sides of the issue and it's so simple to meet in the middle. I wish it could happen.

Well The application of any reseach could be good and also bad, as study microbiology and biotechnology is very good as it benifit billion of peoples but if it used to make biological weapons then its bad. so Stem cell reseach is not bad and it should be done but we must make efforts to prevents its wrong application, i.e. to create and destroy embroyes etc best regards aftab ahmad

Science is not against God's will. Science serves as proof of God's intricate design. For example, the 7 days of the creation story coincide with the theories of evolution. 1M years for man is equal to 1 day for God, so to speak, and since He made man on the 7th day, it does make sense. Also, the processes of life are so very complicated that presuming that those were all 'natural accidents' would be on the verge of imbecility. You mentioned something about religious people, quazi90630. I think of religious people as having the same qualities as those of the Pharisees in the Bible. They tend to put limitations on the power of God by attempting to define His ways. We have no way to do that because God is everything that we have not touched upon. Some scientists say that they don't believe in God, but subconsciously they are trying to imitate Him. And imitation is a form of worship. Stem Cell Research was given to us to have something to hold on to, to hope for. But we should also know that there is a time for everything. A time to fight, and a time to let go. And life is not about letting go, but about coming home. Maybe it's time we let them come home to the Lord, where their bodies will be whole for all eternity. We will all go there someday and death is not something to be afraid of, it's just a bridge from this life to the next.

Hi i am sure religion is not against science, but religion promote science in actaull way. religion always stress to learn the things that you dont know so how can religion be against the science, but actually we can say that science is one branch of religion. religious people should throughly study the issues and then they should make comments on it, otherwise people will go against the religion if they dont get satisfection in their minds, so religious scholars should be very careful in making statements. Secondly religion give us the rule and regulations about all things and also gave us regulation in science that upto this limit it is okay, beyond that we should not go. and this is in our own benifit because if we move beyond that point then we face many difficulties and many problem arises. regards aftab

wow this is a hot topic Stem cells will be controversial for a long time. Recent advances that do not use fetal tissues/embryos have been late in coming, and would have made things a lot different if they were discovered early in the stem cell game. what do you think about these recent advances?
