Storing SDS-PAGE Gels Long Term

How long can someone store sds-page gels in the long term???

I mean i know that i can store the gels in zip lock bags after fixing for later analysis and staining but is it indefinitely? Years? Months?

Would like to know an answer to this question.

In general, you can dry the gels or freeze at -80C for the long term 1 year to multiple years. And you can store at RT, -20C for short terms, months.

I never knew that you could store SDS-PAGE gels in the -80C freezer.
Is there any risk of cracking?
