Is Medical Technology (aka Clinical Lab Science) a good career choice?

I am in my second year working towards my associates for a Medical Technician and then hopefully moving on to my BS. Is this a good career choice? What can I expect when I am done? Is it good pay and benefits? Help is appreciated. Thanks everyone.

As a lab director I have been in this field for 42 years. So I might be a little biased. Yes it is an excellent field. I see great things happening in medical technology. A few statistics there are 60% fewer tech schools than in 1983. there are 70% fewer technologists coming out of those schools.

I got a B.S. and couldn't find a real job after school so now I'm contracting in a life science RnD lab for 16,000 a year with no benifits at all. I just got accepted into clinicals, after I finish the year of that I will make around 50,000 in the area I live with amazing benifits. So yes I think CLS is a great choice.
