Hello, I had a MS degree in 2007. since 2007, I am working on a phd. But I do not intend to finish it anymore, so sick of it. I would like to use my MS to find a job. It has been 4 years since i got my master, if I hide my phd experience, it will make me look bad in front of employee, they would wonder what i have been doing these past 4 yrs. But If i put phd info in CV, they might think I am over qualified. How and what shall I do? What would you write in the CV under this situation? Write phd candidate on the CV and explain to the employee later why i want to quit? With a general biology degree, is it hard to get to pharm company or some other industry jobs? Thanks for reading and advising

You can say you were doing your PhD, but decided to stop before finishing (I met a guy who said exactly that, worked very well for him). People understand the hassles and will understand. Just don't give them too much info, like "I was doing a PhD in Immunology, after 3 years we finalized a paper/patent/project and thought it was a good starting point for my career."

I think the employer will prefer honest answers from interviewee. best that you tell them your decision to discontinue phd and the reason behind it just in brief. So they won't have to imagine and your honesty will impress them too. Good luck

I'm not sure how many would be on sites like monster.com or indeed.com, but I'm sure there's somebody hiring for science either on there or Craigslist. Maybe a quick visit wouldn't hurt.

Yes, my friend got her job at Craigslist, but wait, there are a lot of scam there, just be safe.

There are a number of obvious things you can do to improve your chances of getting a job, such as creating a winning CV, practicing your interview skills or registering with recruitment agencies plus online job sites.
