 If you add double stranded RNA from a disease gene to a cell then RNAi proteins will...? prevent mRNA from the disease gene from being made into protein. chew up the gene in the chromosome. stop the disease proteins from leaving the cell. turn into a virus that attacks cancer cells.  |

| The first answer. The double stranded RNA can be used as a template for machinery that identifies mRNA molecules and targets them for destruction. The mechanism is called RNAi. |
