Nat Genet. 2008 Feb 10; [Epub ahead of print] http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18264099 The investigators demonstrated that mir-140 interacts with platelet-derived growth factor receptor a and that excess mir-140 can cause cleft palate. The experiments demonstrate that one function of mir-140 in zebrafish is to help direct palatogenic neural crest cells as they move from the neural crest into position to contribute to palate formation.        |
