Default RNA isolation mouse brain punches

Hi there,
i am currently trying to isolate RNA out of needle opunches of mouse brains, meaning that the avaiable tissue is super tiny small. I am using the ambion RNAqueous micro procedure kit but unfortunately I do get any bands when i check for the RNA on a agarose gel. I have tried different sonicating intervalls and temperatures and i am running out of ideas and dont really know why i cannot isolate any RNA

is anybody able to help??

thanks heaps

Checking RNA on agarose gels is iffy. Here are some tips on denaturing conditions for running on agarose gels from a great company, Ambion, [Only registered users see links. ]

I myself would try RT-PCR with primers for a housekeeping gene instead of the gel.
