Hello, I ordered a proprietary non-corrosive RNase decontamination solution and cannot start my next project until it arrives. In the interim, I thought I'd register here and see if anyone has a recipe for a homemade version to tide me over until my order arrives. As you can probably garner from above - the most important thing is that it's non-corrosive and won't harm electrical wiring. Thanks to everyone in advance, CENTROMERE DUDE EDITED TO ADD: I am NOT asking anyone to commit corporate espionage and give me a recipe for a proprietary product! I am asking for a generic recipe commonly used before such solutions were available commercially Last edited by CENTROMERE DUDE; 05-31-2007 at 06:23 PM. Reason: Realized after proofreading that my inquiry may have been a bit unclear

It's not a recipe, but AquaRNA might work here. It irreversibly inactivates RNases. Wet your wiring with AquaRNA, and then rinse off with de-ionized water (we routinely use diH2O for RNA suspension and never have problem).

Hi Dude, we use DEPC-ethanol for RNase decontamination on surfaces. Let it air dry after use. Also, make sure you dont use DEPC in/with TRIS buffers as its known to react with amines and then develop toxic fumes. ![]() Cheers
