 mRNA question What would happen if 3 nucleotides were deleted outside the coding region (start and stop codons). Would it have any effect on the amount of mRNA transcribed or the protein translated?        |

| Re: mRNA question Hello Georgina, if the deletion is outside the transcriptional stop/start site and outside of the translational stop/start site then the mRNA and protein should remain the same. However, the deletion may affect transcriptional and/or translational rates if it is found in a regulatory region. cheers  |
