Default mRNA shine dalgarno sequence

If I had a sequence given to me what would happen if the shine dalgano sequence before the start codon in the mRNA was replaced with CTTTCCCTT?
Will the no. of molecules in the mRNA transcribed be increased or decreased?
What about the size of the mRNA molecule or the protein translated from the mRNA? Or will there be no mRNA produced at all?

Default Re: mRNA shine dalgarno sequence

well
if the SD sequence is changed in mRNA before the start codon then initiation complex will not recognize the initation site properly and hence less protein will be formed. but most probably the size of the protein will not change, it will only change if a similar sequence to SD sequence is present close to ATG sequence downstream of first ATG.

So we can say that the amount of protein that will produce will be less but the size will remain the same.

regards
aftab
