Default Dialysis of Purified Proteins

Hello everyone,
i have a problem i dont know the answer to. I have a small 10kDa protein. The cut off for our dialysis is about 10 kDa. What should i do? I dont want to lose my protein... are there any dialysis for smaller proteins? what about holes in the tubing?
thanks again

Kiki,

Depending on who you get your dialysis tubing from, that 10 kDa pore rating can be kind of sloppy. The 10K MWCO means that should be the largest pore size in the membrane.

Even with a really good pore rating of 10 kDa, you might retain 60 to 90% of your protein at 10 kDa depending on it's tertiary structure.

If you are really afraid of loosing protein, get dialysis tubing with MWCO 1/3 smaller than the protein you want to keep. So a 7K membrane would keep you from loosing anything.
