Designing a qpcr Experiment for demo - Suggestions Please!!

We are planning to conduct workshops in real-time PCR and designing an experiment for the demo. We have the following questions:
1) want to perform demo expt. of gene expression analysis using relative quantification method. e.g. relative fold change in expression levels of BRCA1 gene across two different human tumor samples. one limitation is that extraction kits for RNA isolation from FFPE tumor samples is very expensive. Can we use any alternate sample for RNA isolation other than FFPE?

2) also interested in plant gene expression studies(more economical) but pre-extarction processing for most plant samples require liquid nitrogen. Is there any alternative to this?

3) suggestions for any other simple and economical qPCR experiment (gene expression analysis) suitable for demo purpose?
We also like to have the price quotes for the products required for the experiments.

Thanks!!
