Default reference genes-how to determine their validity?

HI

I would like to ask how could we determine if the selected reference gene is suitable or not for our experiment. I know that the reference gene should be the one with constant expression/not affected upon treatment..does it mean the gene should have same ct value for control and treated samples? Is there any available software to confirm whether the reference gene is suitable or not? I hope anyone can clarify me about this..thank u
