Default DMSO and blood pressure

I need to know wether I can use DMSO to study the effect of a compound, which dissolves in DMSO, on blood pressure in rats. DMSO is injected intravenously.

Looking at several Material Safety Data Sheets (eg
[Only registered users see links. ]), it doesn't look like
DMSO affects blood pressure. I tried looking on PubMed but didn't find
anything that stated there might be an effect (but you might want to
look harder than I did, since I just did a search for "blood pressure"
and DMSO and looked at the first two pages.) In any case, if you set
up a group of control mice that are injected with unadulterated DMSO,
and compare it to mice injected with DMSO + your compound, that would
probably be sufficient. You could also choose two different solvents to
use, and see if your compound has more or less of an effect than when
delivered by DMSO.

DMSO is not particularly toxic, indeed there are DMSO-based creams
against sports injuries available for human use.

You may not need to inject since DMSO is skin permeable and takes
dissolved compounds with it, just rubbing the solution onto the rats
skin (tail is easy to handle) may suffice.
