total DNA from animal skin

Are you going to isolate total DNA from the animal skin tissue or from
the bacteria that lives on animal skin? It was not very clear.

Could you tell me the best method for extraction of total DNA from

diversity studies?

My suggestion for Ganesh is using a Guanindine/Silica DNA extraction as
described by Boom et al. (1990), refert to:

I've used it successfully to extract DNA from wild boars museum skins
(dessiccated, salt-treated ect..)
