| hi everyone whats the difference between nusieve agarose gel and normal agarose gel for DNA electrophoresis? if the protocol states to use 2% nusieve agarose gel, then can i use 2% agarose gel instead or adjust the percentage a bit for normal agarose gel to replace nusieve agarose? (as my lab doesnt have nusieve agarose?) thanks samantha |

| Samantha wrote: Nusieve is (was, at leas) a trademark of FMC; which probably have merged in a bigger biotech company by now. It is special agarose for very small DNA fragments. If you do not have it, you may use 3-4% "normal" agarose, but it will not have the same resolution than Nusieve. Be careful, with that agarose concentration I would not recommend microwave, but ina boiling water bath. -- Rafael Maldonado, Ph. D. Division of Genetics University of Alicante Spain |
