why do the fields of proteomics and bioinformatics depend on genomics?

any ideas?

Most of our information about the sequence of the proteins of an organism is inferred from the DNA sequence, not via direct sequencing of the proteins. Proteomics is the study of the complete complement of proteins in an organism. Genomics is the study of the complete DNA sequence of an organism. Bioinformatics is the use of computers to mine the information present in large data sets. We first directly sequence the DNA (allowing for genomics) and then infer the proteome from the genome.
