Default 2D analysis software and scanner

Dear All,
this is my first post.
I am setting up a new lab dedicated to cancer stem cells and will do proteomics. My experience is with the Amersham system (IPG Phor I,II and III), Ethan, silver stain and Progenesis software, in industry.
My new lab is in academy and resources are, as you can imagine, somewhat limited. I plan to use flourescence (Flamingo and DIGE) therefore need a scanner. I have some experience with Typhoon Trio (anything about the 9400?).
I will appreciate comments on other platforms and basically what can be used to get the best out of your budget.
Cheers
Angel
