| Hi, My silver staining gels have high background. Can anybody help me on how to reduce the background intensity. I thought it could be because of the water quality but I'm using MiliQ water but still it doesn't help me. Please help me on this. Thank you. Regards, cattoyee |

| the high background should be related to the short time of incubation with fixation solution, try to leave it overnight in the fixation solution in case of u apply the fisation solution for 30 min or 1h. good luck |

| I think The high background does not relate to the time of incubation in fixing solution. The background is not different between overnight fixation and 30 min fixation. i used to do both. To ensure about 3 times washing before stain the gel in staining solution. The background will be dark if you wash the gel incompletely.
