Question Using HCl for Proteins i Aqueous solution

Hi

I want to mix a protein into an aqueous solution and I have read an article where they "dissolve" the protein with HCl before.
Afterwards I want to create an emulsion with an organic phase.
Why do you have to dissolve the protein in HCl and is it necessary?

Sorry if this is an obvious or dumb question, but my field of expertise is not molecular biology

Kind Regards

You can change the pH of a protein solution with HCl or NaOH as desired. Sometimes the acidic pH may help dissolve certain proteins that normally wouldn't dissolve at neutral or basic pH. I usually manipulate pH for use in reverse-phase chromatography.
