Default minimum hours of incubation for protein expression

Hi,
I would like to know approximately how many hours does it take for protein expression.I am trying to look by WB for some proteins in cell culture with cytokines.Since there are not much data regarding it,generally to start with, how many(rather minimum or average) hours of incubation of the cells with the cytokine will cause the protein to be expressed.

Default Re: minimum hours of incubation for protein expression

Consider this:
Cytokines can create rapid responses like protein phosphorylation or slower proliferation responses (which will include first expression of early genes, then later genes).

Cytokine response is dependent on the number of cytokine receptors (range 10-10,000 sites/cell) on the target cell and whether they are high affinity or low affinity receptors.

Treatment of cells with ligand can lead to down-modulation of receptors by extracellular domain shedding.

Depending on your assay, you may want to have collections at hourly intervals, every 2 hours etc.
