Our disruptive technologies backed by protected intellectual property positions will enable us to open up entirely new life science markets by revolutionizing DNA sequencing. Job Description: Pacific Biosciences seeks a senior enzymologist or protein biochemist to join a team developing and characterizing nucleic acid modifying enzymes for use in cutting edge, single molecule applications. The successful candidate will have strong skills in enzyme kinetics, protein chemistry, molecular biology, and knowledge of structure-function relationships. An emphasis on protein engineering and directed selection for desired protein characteristics, as is applied in directed molecular evolution for biotechnology applications. While the position is senior, laboratory skills and a hands-on ethic are required for the startup phase of our company's development. The responsibilities will include specification, selection and characterization of candidate enzymes. Experience in the transition from research to development and production are highly desirable. Requirements: A Ph.D. or equivalent experience is required in biochemistry or molecular biology, as well as postgraduate experience, preferably in industry. The ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment is a must, as well as strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.
