Default let me know if this is stupid

Im not knowledgeable in physics or mathematics to any serious degree; however, I find the fields to be extremely fascinating. I do not belive that a career in either subjects would be suitable for me, but I would love to progress my knowledge of the subjects to the furthest that I am capable through any means necessary that do not require expense. My interest is purely amateur. I was wondering where I should search to obtain this goal? I feel ignorant to the workings of my surroundings and therefore alienated from the environment in which I live. Any help or educated pointing in 'the right direction' would be appreciated.
