Is bullet proof glass REALLY bullet proof?

Police cars, armored cars, military vehicles, lots of things have bullet proof glass built in. But is bullet proof glass really bullet proof? I mean, it could take three or four shots and hold out, but if you shoot it enough will bullet proof glass eventually break?
And:
If the gun is really weak will it take more shots to break the glass or will it not break it at all?
Can a strong enough gun break bullet proof glass in one shot?
All answers appreciated, thank you in advanced :D

Well, im pretty sure it all depends on the calibre and distance, but as a general rule, bullet-proof glass is bullet-proof.

Otherwise it would be called "Bullet resistant" or "Bullet-proof as long as the bullet is thrown" glass, right?
