| Hi Igor, Actually, that's not such a stupid statement. It can be shown that in a hollowed out sphere, or even one solid all the way through, the gravitational acceleration vectors due to the mass itself which are "to the left" cancel the acceleration vectors "to the right" and at the center of mass, the total acceleration vector has a zero length, i.e., "gravity goes zero at the center of mass."
