Is Physics as we know the science based specifically on W=Fs?

The premise for 'work' seems, for us, to form the foundation for 'reality'
(excuse the scary quote--put your defintion there.), there are variations
of course: dW= -Pdv for instance; but, seems to me W=Fs is the
beginning of humankind's understanding of phenomena and being.

Your thoughts.

My thought is that the world is much richer than you imagine.
Conservation of energy (which is what you are alluding to) is only one
of many profound conservation laws, and all of them stem from
underlying symmetries in nature.
