| < First let me say THIS about THAT (the Evolution vs. Intelligent Design court case in Harrisburg, Pa): < Despite the wild, factless rhetoric uttered by members of the Scientific Establishment -- in or out of court -- there is STILL not one shred of physical evidence confirming that evolution is correct. If you ask for it and you WON'T get it because it simply doesn't exist. < Evolutionists have a pipe dream, maintaining such physical evidence abounds, and they're doing so not so much to protect an erroneous paradigm but to protect their vested interests. < Let them say a single word that evolution "may not" be correct and -- Bingo! -- they realize they'd be blackballed from ever again having a nice soft ass-kissing position within the scientific community. They'd most likely wind up selling apples on the corner. < < < < < < < < Now let us begin... < Maestro, some Corruption Music, please. < < < < < < < (A golden rule of geology is that coal is a minimum of 280 < < Photos show a petrified human femur embedded in slate that was excavated during an open-pit mining operation in Pennsylvania's anthracite region: < < < PETRIFIED HUMAN FINGER AND TOE < (Photo oduring Power Point presentation in Switzerland) < Two Petrified Human Skulls (one embedded in boulder) < Handcarved Tool/Weapon Handle (Turned to Anthracite) < Other Petrified Specimens < < Yerkes Regional Primate Research Center < American Medical Laboratories < CATscan on petrified premolar < Scanning Electron Microscopy on petrified tibia < Presence of Haversian canals (Photo of tibia ground section) < < < ========================================== < Boxer, Barbara (D) - California Specter, Arlen (R) - Pennsylvania - Republican Hutchison, Kay Bailey (R) - Texas - Republican Allen, George (R) - Virginia - Republican Nelson, Bill (D) - Florida - Democratic Schumer, Charles E. | I'm reluctant to get into this discussion, but I would like to pose a couple of questions: 1. How did free floating chemicals organize themselves into DNA? You can't say they evolved into DNA because there is no evolution without DNA to pass on genetic information based on natural selection. And even if a lightning bolt produced a few strands of amino acid, that is far from a protein molecule and light years from a DNA system. Amino acids and proteins don't reproduce and don't benefit from natural selection. Minerals-->Lightning-->Amino acids-->End of story. 2. The SETI project would go wild if they received a radio signal with the first 10 digits of Pi. It would be taken as proof that intelligence "designed" the transmission. But when scientists look at the incredibly complex factory within DNA -- which far exceeds any CPU in complexity -- they conclude that it occurred as a natural product of chance. Do you see any inconsistency here? 3. Is there more evidence for totally naturalistic mineral-to-DNA generation than for an intelligent design explanation? 4. There are some scientists who believe life on earth was "seeded" from meteorite activity. I believe that is an effort to avoid dealing with question 1 above. Are you willing to consider seeding as a possible explanation for terrestrial life? |

How are you going to get from an ice particle to the machinery in DNA? Yes, and exactly how did that happen? What makes this "scientific"? Is it reproducible? Is there any evidence that it actually happened or is this just blind speculation that it might have happened? Wouldn't it be more accurate to say "The most common guess..."? I am very familiar with fractals and have written programs to generate them. But the point of SETI is to identify patterns that are beyond a reasonable threshold of having occurred naturally. I propose that if 10 digits of Pi was considered evidence of intelligence, then the discovery of the genome sequence would be conclusively accepted as the product of an intelligent designer. |

| Cowboy wrote: There are multiple steps from reduced compounds to cyanogens to amino acids to peptide chains to RNA fragments. Look up Miller-Urey experiments, which showed that in an enriched atomsphere of reduced compounds, amino acids can be created spontaneously with the addition of energy. The first several chapters of Biological Science, by Scott Freeman, describes this chemistry quite nicely. In stages, why, yes it is. No, that would not be more accurate. Current knowledge about this is based on *experimental* results. |

| On 20-Oct-2005, "PD" <[Only registered users see links. ]> wrote: I am very familiar with the Miller-Urey experiment, and I say again, so what? Amino acid is trivially simple compared to RNA or DNA. You have to join amino acid in a chain and do folding to even produce protein. But even if that happened by chance and you got a protein molecule, what happens then? Protein can't reproduce, and it can't evolve because it's not alive. So it floats around for a few hours and then gets oxidized and broken down. The Miller-Urey experiments demonstrate the creation of amino acids, not life. OK, please set up an experiment where amino acid forms DNA without intelligent guidance and I'll be convinced. |

| Dear Cowboy: "Cowboy" <[Only registered users see links. ]> wrote in message news:[Only registered users see links. ]... [Only registered users see links. ] .... folding is a given. Bad guess. Look at the protein that causes "mad cow disease". So viruses cannot evolve? Influenza can be cured by a single injection, because it doesn't mutate? Consider the environment in which MU is performed. Where would the oxidizer come from, if plants were not present to release the oxygen? True. Then: 1) it would have to be a government progam (no intelligence there), or 2) we'd have to convince you that God didn't create that life, in that "jar". You won't be convinced. David A. Smith |
