| "A British philosophy professor who has been a leading champion of atheism for more than five decades has changed his mind. He now believes in God - more or less - based on scientific evidence..." and "Antony Flew, 81, has concluded that some sort of intelligence or first cause must have created the universe. A super-intelligence is the only good explanation for the origin of life and the complexity of nature..." [Only registered users see links. ] I thought a so-called "philosophy professor" would have known enough about the fundamentals of logic to recognize a classical fallay - argumentum ad ignorantiam [Only registered users see links. ] But then he may be moonlighting as a test subject for Alzheimer's research over in the Neurology department... | Then again he might just be acquiring greater wisdom. Perhaps he's caught a whiff of the roses or some other of the things finer than logic. Every older person doesn't get Alzheimers. The spirit might have just got to him, and when it hits: Look out(:^) |

| "Rich The Philosophizer" <null@example.net> wrote in message news <snip> I've never met an atheist who didn't defend his/her beliefs religiously. Only the faithful would take *anyone* at their word without reservations, preist, rabbi, imam, or scientist. IMO the best approach is to first define the term "god", and then to look around to see if there really *is* anything that satisfies _all_ the requirements of the definition. I have done so for myself, and I am satisfied with what I have learned. Tom Davidson Richmond, VA |

| "Richard The Troll" <rtt@example.net> wrote in message news <snip repost> "How do you know you're God?"..."Simple, when I pray to Him I find I'm talking to myself." --Peter O'Toole, The Ruling Class Seriously, I can think of no greater arrogance (read "the sin of pride") than claiming to speak for God. You can tell Him I said so. "Channeling" is a 'new age,' 'politically correct' term for the delusional hearing of voices (auditory hallucination) that is a characteristic symptom of one of the most widespread psychoses in modern civilization - schizophrenia. "God told me to rob the 7-11." - Dick Price When I hear TV evangelists claiming to speak for God, or that 'God' (or 'the Lord') told him such-and-such, I seriously don't know whether to laugh at the irony of his delusion or to cry because there are thousands of fools out there who believe him. Either way, the prudent course would be to suggest the aid of a competent mental health professional, but schizophrenics resent the implication and will never seek out such 'help' on their own. When the voices get too persistent there is always the universal cure - alcohol. "Getting drunk is the only thing that makes the voices stop." - [an alcoholic] Ask your God why He created schizophrenics, and how they can be helped. Tom Davidson Richmond, VA |

| If you don't know God, maybe you're looking in all the wrong places. God isn't a He or a She. God is love: Sometimes it takes a very grave catastrophy; your's or someone you love to find God. Be thankful if you never have to do it that way. |
