Super Strong Translucents for Touch Screens I have been touting my Palm Zire 21 right and left. In fact, I carry it with me everywhere -- that is until Sunday, when, taking it from my back pocket, I noticed the screen was cracked! Luckily I bought the $30 buyer protection from Staples ( which includes one free screen replacement ) but I think: don't we have super strong transparent materials like Lexan and others that are basically uncrackable ?! |
Super Strong Translucents for Touch Screens Dear Ge' zam !: "Ge' zam !" <gezam@gezam.gezam> wrote in message news:[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]... Yes, and no. Yes there are such materials, but they are not suitable to the task, and usually scratch easily. And since we stop stressing stuff when it breaks... You might try wearing a fanny pack, and keep this device there. I saw a HUD advertised that was going to be for sale "soon" for a portable computer, back in 1991. I go to the store, and nothing like that is available for sale. The key is to hardiness is to put it in protected locations, and to decrease the breadth. This would be superior to large fragile displays. David A. Smith |
