Yep, in controlled amounts along with all carbohydrates. 20gm per day is only for the first 2 weeks to establish a baseline carb level, increasing until a satisfactory balance between carb consumption and weight loss or maintenance is established. | Great posting. I did the Atkins diet with some of my own modifications and I lost 65 pounds. I took off 40 pounds in the first 4 months or so and the rest over another 8 months or so..... |

| As what I've read the Atkins diet promises that not only will lose weight and not be hungry with a low-carbohydrate diet, but also be on the road to have a better heart health and memory function, as well as other wellness benefits. That is why I've followed those steps and didn't expect the result of my perseverance of my diet. |

| Hi, Yes, Tony is correct, there's a lot of misleading information in the press, for example about completely cutting out carbs. The diet has multiple phases but the media only focus on certain elements which gives people a misleading impression unfortunately. |
