| Only a charlatan would assert that it is not necessary to include mechanism in the study of physics. To rely on mathematics and observation alone is the equivalent to believing that our Universe works on MAGIC. and that physics is exempt from the |

It would be nice if there was a cause, or explanation, or mechanism, for everything that happened, rather than there being some things for which we can never have an explanation, and for which we have to say "It just happens." But that position would be logically inconsistent, because it requires an infinite series of causes. Of course, if by "mechanism," you mean not cause, but push/pull force, you have failed to see that the mechanisms of those push/pull forces involve things like electromagnetism and quantum mechanics. Why would you want to describe them in terms of the push/pull forces they cause? If by "mechanism" you mean a complete description of everything that happens in a certain space during a certain time, what is the problem with modern science? It does attempt to do this. It appears you are being deliberately vague about what you mean by "mechanism," so that you can just throw the word at people, pretending it's an argument, and they can't argue back because they're not sure what you're saying. |
