| A bond is formed between the carbon atom (of one amino acid's carboxyl group) and the nitrogen atom (of the other amino acid's amine group). As a result a di-peptide is formed and a water molecule is released. This reaction is categorized as a condensation reaction (more specifically a dehydration reaction). |
