HBr in acetic acid

Hi everybody!

we have purshased 33%HBr in acetic acid from two different suppliers. with one of them the time of debloking is 17 hours, with another one - 32 hours.
We have measured he HBr concentration with Br-selective electrode. It's 33.8% in first case and 32.3 in the second one. So, they are quite similar.
My question is why it's such a big difference in thr reaction time. anybody meet this problem? Can this solution contain any impurities? What can it be?

Hi dear,
You were asking for the difference in reaction timings with both samples of HBr gas in Acetic Acid,with the best of my knowledge the answer lies in the rawmaterial used in the production of the same.
That means check out whether the source of rawmaterial used in both samples are of virgin quality.
Bromine strictly should be virgin(Tata,Solaris,Agrocel make or imported one)
And the other Acetic Acid which should be Glacial- coming from Sugar factory sources etc.
In case the company providing you with HBr gas in Acetic Acid is not abiding with the above points there lies ur answer.
