Default DNA profiling????? PCR and RFLP?

I understand he steps of DNA profiling but I do not understand where the RFLP (restriction fragment length polymorphic comes in.

what is RFLP and where in the process of a DNA profiling does it come under and what does it have to do with PCR? polymerase chain reaction???

well
its has many application, just as one example is to find homology....if you want to amplify certain part of genome by PCR of suspect and cut it by using different Restriction Enzymes then you make a RFLP of it and then compare it to the sample you got at the scene of crime.....in this way a matching or homology is find out......
it has tremendious application in molecular Biology.......
this is used after PCR reaction to know whether you amplified the right gene or not and so on.........

anything else about it....??
