I am working for Environment Canada trying to find CAS numbers for a huge list of complex chemicals and polymers. I have downloaded the QSAR program and have had zero success finding a CAS number for the products I am looking at. I have SMILES designation for many of the compounds and the program depicts them quite nicely but it doesn't have CAS numbers.
I spent all day yesterday downloading the 2.4GB program but I don't really know what I have. I hope I am getting information from a wide variety of sources for this search but don't even know where I'm searching. I have tried a few compounds I know to have CAS numbers and they do come up. (Most complex so far is DTBSBP, a hindered phenol antioxidant, which does show a CAS # and correct structure.)
If anyone knows if I need to do something more for a wider search I'd appreciate hearing from them.
Cheers,
Russell.
