genomic DNA or cDNA?

i am interested in studying about gene expression of a specific exon. but, i am not sure which source of DNA i should use , genomic DNA or cDNA? thanks!

You better use cDNA in case of eukaryotic genome and genomic DNA for prokaryote genome.
